Issue 07 of Final Gravity, a print beer magazine that shares immersive and personal stories from the world of beer, is now available. Rather than a typical glossy beer mag, Final Gravity is an old school stapled zine, but with paid writing and art. It tells the stories that don’t often make it into the pages of beer magazines, the stories that together weave the fabric of the collective beer experience.

It’s easy at any point along this journey to be defensive or annoyed with folks at other places on that timeline. It’s important to understand how you learn best and allow yourself to do that, and allow others to do the same. As you’re learning, hold that information somewhat loosely, allowing it to change as your understanding deepens.

Dennis Malcolm Byron—better known as Ale Sharpton—has been writing about beer for about twenty years, an eternity in the ever-changing craft beer industry. He’s seen styles come and go and breweries open and close, but during his two decades as a beer writer, the industry’s steps toward greater racial diversity have been painfully slow. “I started as a writer for hip hop and magazines like that, but I’ve always had a real passion for beer,” he says.
