Kidderminster-based Aztec Label has installed Fujifilm’s LuXtreme LED curing system for its flexo presses, which run on the manufacturer’s Flenex water-washable plates and Sericol JJ LED UV inks. The curing equipment was installed in May 2024, and owner Colin Le Gresley said it has ‘proven to be a game changer’. He continued, ‘The operators appreciate the simplicity of the controls, and the LED response time is perfect.

Polish label converter MD Labels has installed its third Mark Andy Digital Series hybrid flexo/digital press, becoming the first in Europe to have three such systems. The company, which is based in Kalisz, installed its first in 2018, with a second joining in 2022. Earlier in 2024, a third hybrid press – a Mark Andy Digital Series HD – started production. All three use a combination of flexo and UV inkjet technology.

Esko claims that its Pack Proof image processing software, part of the Automation Engine workflow, has become the first such software worldwide to gain Fogra55 certification for Extended Colour Gamut (ECG) printing. The product already holds Fogra39 and Fogra 51 certifications, demonstrating its ability to match to the ISO12647-7 quality standard in offset printing.

Italian adhesive label producer Etikmar has invested in a new hybrid production line from Lombardi Converting, incorporating flexo, digital and converting technologies. It said the system will help reduce production costs and offer greater flexibility. The Mantua-based business, which operates in industries such as retail, food and personal care, has been a user of Lombardi’s Synchroline 430 flexo press – an eight-colour model – for the last two years.

Spanish label converter Mirmar SA is to add a second Mark Andy Digital Series HD inkjet/flexo hybrid press in 2025, having placed an order after what it says has been a highly productive year with its first machine, which was installed at its Valencia headquarters in 2023. The new machine will be a 17-inch wide DSHD HighSpeed 1200 hybrid, a model that was launched recently at Labelexpo Americas in Chicago.
