Framtid i Nord

Framtid i Nord

Future in the North was established in 1988 by T.W. The connection. It evolved from an earlier publication called Nord-Troms Avis, which was based in Skjervøy and started in December 1986. In its early days, Framtid i Nord was released twice a week and was initially located in Oteren, Storfjord. The office later moved to Olderdalen and then to Storslett. The publication aimed to serve a wide audience, covering global, national, regional, and local news. Initially, the local newspaper reported on seven municipalities: Nordreisa, Skjervøy, Lyngen, Kåfjord, Storfjord, Kvænangen, and Balsfjord. While they eventually stopped covering Balsfjord, they did own and run a newspaper there from December 2009 to December 2011, which was published weekly. The publication frequency has changed over the years. It started with two issues a week, increased to three, briefly went up to four, and then returned to three. In 2017, they settled on the current schedule of two editions each week, released on Tuesday and Friday.
