Rockford is quiet at 6:41 a.m. Sunday. The IRONMAN 70.3 Rockford on June 22, 2025 — the first Ironman ever in the state of Illinois — will start in 19 minutes. Yet the streets are quiet. Silent, even. The only car I see before turning onto Forest Hills Drive is a dark blue Tesla. The only sound the neighbor’s sprinkler. The IRONMAN never really gets loud. People line the streets all over downtown in one of Rockford’s largest and most prestigious sporting events. But there is no Us against Them.
