    Has storytelling in games become a lost art? To answer this question, I need to share a little bit more about myself. As a kid, I religiously played Japanese RPGs (JRPGs) due to their amazing storytelling, and thanks to the Internet, I found fans of these games like myself and regularly conversed with them. This became the impetus of wanting to write about games and review them for a living.

    Think of some of the biggest books you might have had around your house. For some, it may be school textbooks. For others, maybe the dictionary or encyclopedia. But one book ruled over all of them—the phonebook. These phonebooks were distributed at regular intervals, easily reaching hundreds of pages. if you lived in a large enough area (i.e. Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao). But a repository of information so large disappeared overnight thanks to the Internet, for better and for worse.

    Flint: Treasure of Oblivion puts together something one may not expect out of a swashbuckling experience: a turn-based tactical RPG with comic book graphics mixed in. While this might not be everybody’s cup of tea, it does bring a fun aesthetic to a chaotic genre. Pirates and video games seem like a match made in heaven: sailing the seven seas with a crew, taking down enemies, and looting and plundering wherever you go.
