The free world is the outer perimeter of American security, an engine of American prosperity, and a megaphone for American influence. U.S. foreign policy should aim to preserve, protect, and defend the free world. That may sound obvious. That is because it was obvious to most U.S. voters and policymakers from 1945 to 2016.
