It’s been a long time since Kuala Lumpur was in the diary, but Girlahead is back. It’s all new at the airport, however. First and Business class are separated from the mass as soon as you deplane. You walk into a soft blue and white environment with comfortable seating and white walls – it looks more like a Harley Street doctor’s waiting area than an airport arrival. And then you’re put in a small bus with comfortable seating for everybody.

You can really keep fit at Orient Express La Minerva in the centre of Rome. First of all, the building is actually constructed for those who want to keep fit. Look up the whole time. The palace put up in 1602 for the Fonseca family from Portugal used to have a central courtyard. That’s been glassed over – see above. Look up to it and your double chin might disappear. It’s beautiful (the courtyard, that is) and it’s magnificently lit.

Honestly, GirlAhead had never, ever had such an action-packed 23 hours as occurred in Rome a couple of days ago. Arrival from the airport in a Mercedes provided by Orient Express Minerva. Greeted by General Manager Filip Boyan. Yes, he’s taken over. He, like Flashman in George MacDonald Fraser’s books, is always everywhere at the right time.

Arrive outside the Orient Express Minerva in Rome and you’ll think you’re going into yet another typical palace, early 17th century. Outside the building looks classic in the way that only a Roman building can. It goes back to 1620 when it was built for the Fonseca family of Portuguese wine renown and then, early in the present century, Arsenale entrepreneur Paolo Barletta saw it at some point and decided to make a hotel out of it.
