A discount shop chain has been given the go-ahead to launch a new store in a North Yorkshire market town. Councillors have given their backing to Yorkshire Trading’s plans to open a branch in the former Barclays Bank in Thirsk Market Place. The proposal had been recommended for refusal by officers who said it could harm the local conservation area and have an overbearing impact on a nearby home.

Officials say the vaccine provides vital protection against different strains of the virus and helps reduce the risk of catching and spreading it, as well as the risk of serious illness or needing to go to hospital if you do catch it. The NHS has sent millions of invites out via text, email, NHS App messages or letters to remind those who are eligible to come forward.

The recent warm and sunny weather has been enjoyed by many, but data shows that heather and other vegetation has become extremely dry. With no significant rainfall forecast, and breezy conditions resulting in further moisture loss from foliage and soil, national park rangers have been putting up fire risk warning signs across the North York Moors.
