HARDNEWS

HARDNEWS

Thirteen years ago, Hardnews was established as a response to the simplification seen in mainstream media. Newspapers, magazines, and television were focusing on trivial matters, prioritizing lifestyle topics over more substantial issues. This period has been marked by significant political and social decline, where mediocrity and celebrity culture overshadowed meaningful art, intellectual exploration, and cultural milestones. The broader context of news became superficial and overly focused on urban life. This created a clear need for serious journalism. Hardnews does not aim to rival the so-called "jute press" of the past or the influx of new money into numerous TV channels and media platforms, as it lacks the financial resources to compete with their extensive reach.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asserted that it will be in power for a long time. The party has been in power in the state of Gujarat for more than two decades. It has ruled India for over ten years and won a third successive five-year term in June 2024.

How can a militarized society with a battle-ready army collapse in just a week? After successfully vanquishing the militants of the Islamic State and Turkey-backed rebels in 2016, the fighters of the Syrian Arab Army were considered to be a formidable fighting force that had built a reputation for developing the heft to influence events in the Middle East.

Just a few days before the Islamic militants of Syria streamed into the ancient town of Aleppo, SANA, the Syrian Arab News Agency, was inexplicably hacked. No one knew who shut down the agency and why. SANA, which is the voice of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR), a secular, multi-religious, and multi-ethnic country, was silenced from covering the biggest story of the last 10 years since Islamic State was driven out of Syria.
