Harness racing, often referred to as trotting, is a popular sport for fans in Australia, where significant amounts of money are bet each year through bookmakers and the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB). The country boasts 91 harness racing tracks that host more than 1,900 events every year. There are around 2,900 drivers and 4,000 trainers involved in the sport, with about 5,000 Standardbred horses born and registered annually.
