I have just discovered a television program that is not new to others, but is new to me. It has hilarious, incredible and rapid-fire dialogue that almost makes me cry. Where has it been all my life? I may have just stumbled into one of the greatest comfort shows ever made, part razor wit, part heart throb, and part odd and quirky small-town magic. There’s a mystery over how quickly the Universe is expanding, and it doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon. Back in the early 2000s, after decades of astronomers arguing over whether the expansion rate of the Universe was closer to 50 km/s/Mpc or 100 km/s/Mpc, the Hubble Key Project was completed.

The 2019 alliance between Microsoft and OpenAI promised to accelerate the race for AI, but seems to be faltering over an almost philosophical question: what does artificial general intelligence (AGI) mean, and who decides when we have achieved it? The contract both companies signed in 2022 allows OpenAI to cut off Microsoft from its most advanced models as soon as its board of directors declares that this milestone has been reached.
