The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) is a prestigious research facility acknowledged by the Spanish government as a "Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence." It receives national funding and operates two of the world's leading observatories. Structurally, it functions as a Public Consortium, formed by the General Administration of the Spanish State, the Public Administration of the Canary Islands, the University of La Laguna (ULL), and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
