Iowa Watch
The Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism is a nonprofit news organization that operates independently and without political bias. It was established by Stephen J. Berry, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and an associate professor at the University of Iowa, along with Robert Gutsche Jr., a Ph.D. student and journalist from the University of Iowa who played a key role in starting the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism in 2009. Lyle Muller, an experienced journalist in Iowa and former editor of The Gazette in Cedar Rapids, was the first full-time executive director and editor of the Center. After Muller retired, Suzanne Behnke took over the role in September 2019, although Muller remains involved with education and editing tasks at the Center.
