Late newsletter this week because life is relentless!! Renovations in the house, which means my beloved (Canadian) bride and cat (Mr. Sweetpea) are holed up in my one-room studio (no washroom) with our foster cat (Junebug). It’s super fun waking up and stepping one foot over to my desk while two cats shit three feet away from me!Yes that’s a Tim Hortons cup because I’m CANADIAN, okay??

Look, I swear I didn’t plan it this way, but, yes, my new DSTLRY series takes place in a WILD FUTURE where Canada and America are about to go to war. After having a CAPITOL STORMING in AVENGERS: TWILIGHT (complete with an Elon-style character in the White House) I’m starting to feel like a shitty Comics Nostradamus.

So apparently there’s not a fancy NYC screening for EVERY Daredevil episode?? So now I gotta watch them at home alone like a goddamn sucker?? That’s fine, I guess. At least now I can take photos of Marco’s name and mine so close to each other yet so far:It’s definitely cool being on screen with a bunch of Daredevil legends. Though, being next to Wally Wood up there, I’m reminded that a career in comics isn’t always a recipe for happiness. COMICS.

Ever since my trip to LA and then NYC for the Daredevil premiere people have been asking me if I’ve “changed.” I suppose I have. But I like to think it’s less of a “change” than it is a “beautiful metamorphosis” from the rank, filthy cocoon of comic books to the shimmering light of Hollywood as my powerful, hung butterfly takes flight. Will I still write this newsletter, to reaffirm my connection to the common people (you)?

Okay, so, it’s been a TIME for the ol’ Chipster!!!Los Angeles was wonderful after the wild day getting there. ComicsPRO was amazing, the retailers were great, and I’ll have more to say about that in my next newsletter.

This week I’m in L.A. for high powered Hollywood meetings at various Starbuckses and I’m also here for ComicsPRO, the annual gathering of comic shop retailers! I’m here to give them all very nice kisses for selling my fun little stories to their customers. Also I’ll be giving a rousing PowerPoint presentation on ZDARSKY COMIC NEWS. As you all know, a few months ago I visited the FANTASTIC FOUR movie set with some pals. I saw SO MANY amazing things, all of which I couldn’t talk to you about because of the extensive NDA I signed. But, now that the first trailer is out, I feel like the NDA doesn’t matter much anymore, so I can tell you everything I know based on what you’ve now seen. Issue #157 of BATMAN is out this week, marking the end of my 32-issue, two-and-a-half year stint on the title. To say it’s been a dream gig is an understatement. Batman is my all-time favourite character, so getting to write his adventures month after month made me goddamn giddy. But! It’s not a forever job, and I wanted to make sure I left while I still felt excitement over the work I was doing.
