Journal of American Water Works Association

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is a global, nonprofit organization focused on scientific and educational efforts to ensure effective water management. Established in 1881, it stands as the world's largest network for water supply experts. Our membership comprises more than 4,300 utilities, which provide around 80% of the nation's drinking water and handle nearly half of its wastewater. With a total of 51,000 members, we encompass a wide range of individuals from the water sector, including public water and wastewater systems, environmental advocates, researchers, educators, and anyone who cares about safeguarding water, our most precious resource. AWWA Headquarters We take pride in founding three key organizations that promote safe water: the Water Research Foundation in 1966, Water For People in 1991, and Water Equation in 2015. AWWA brings together various stakeholders in the water community to enhance public health, safety, economic stability, workforce development, and environmental protection. Our initiatives include: - Providing education for water professionals - Advocating for safe and sustainable water practices - Gathering and disseminating valuable knowledge - Offering opportunities for volunteering
