    Community leaders and supporters gathered at Sycamore Park on Monday morning in Ottumwa to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new athletic facility. Brian Morgan, Board Chair of the Southeast Iowa Sports Commission, told attendees the project was five years in the making while thanking financial supporters JBS, the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation, and the City of Ottumwa. Morgan announced the name of the facility will be The Southeast Iowa JBS Sports Center.

    An Ottumwa man is behind bars after authorities say he threatened to set fire to his stepfather’s house. 45-year-old Timothy Clawson was charged with threat/attempt placement of incendiary device/substance, a Class D felony. On March 6th at 4:50 PM, court records say Clawson’s stepfather was inside his home on East Main Street when he heard Clawson make threats to burn the house down. Clawson’s alleged threats were recorded on video. Clawson was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail.

    The Oskaloosa Police Department announced the arrest of a Beacon man wanted out of Hardin County. 18-year-old Jaemon Hole was taken into custody for probation violation from three counts of assault on a peace officer. Hole was also charged with second-degree sex abuse (Class B felony), enticing a minor under 13 (Class D felony), and lascivious acts with a child (Class C felony) based on a separate investigation. Hole is currently in the Mahaska County Jail where his bail has been set at $45,000.
