Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says when the deputy stopped Brandon Byrd’s SUV around 2:30 a.m. for not having a license plate there was a smell of marijuana coming from inside and Byrd was asked to step out. During a search deputies opened the hood and found a loaded Hi-Point .45 caliber pistol in the wheel well.

    Lincoln Police say a 44-year-old man from Troy, Michigan ended up in jail Friday after the 14-year-old girl he thought he was communicating with was actually a an undercover LPD investigator. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says 44-year-old Brad Strickland was taken into custody at a Lincoln hotel and booked for child enticement. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the case began May 27 when the LPD investigator was posing as the 14-year-old girl.

    Lincoln Police were called to the Casey’s at 25th and ‘O’ around 9:40 Friday night for people trespassing in the parking lot. ” Twenty vehicles were in the parking lot, loitering,doing donuts and being verbal with staff,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.     Lincoln Police have released results of a traffic enforcement project that focused on dangerous driving in school zones. From May 1-15 LPD officers worked overtime hours patrolling during active school zone times. LPD says a total of 141 traffic stops were made and 168 citations issued. Officers wrote 107 speeding tickets and cited 13 people for not wearing seat belts. There were 22 no registration citations issued along with six for no insurance.
