KIOS-FM (Omaha, NE)
KIOS-FM (91.5 MHz) is a National Public Radio affiliate located in Omaha, Nebraska, and is owned by Omaha Public Schools. It launched in September 1969, making it the first educational radio station in Nebraska. KIOS-FM is also one of the founding members of NPR. The station is authorized to transmit in the HD (hybrid) format.

Transcript:The College World Series begins tomorrow (FRI, June 13) at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. But it’s also a big day for a College World Series participant from 20 years ago. Sandoval-Montañez grew up in Mexico and received her Masters in Vocal Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois. Her stage credits include roles in productions of “Carnaval!,” “A Little Night Music,” “Pirates of Penzance” and “Patience.”Sandoval-Montañez is also an educator and social media manager.

Al Foster, whose superbly alert and flexible drumming formed a swirling current in modern jazz for more than 60 years, propelling bands led by Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins and many others, died on Wednesday in his New York City apartment. He was 82. Bonnie Rose Steinberg, his partner of more than 47 years, confirmed his death to NPR Music. She said Foster died from a serious illness.

The college baseball seasons ended for the University of Nebraska and Creighton programs yesterday (SUN). Oklahoma built a 10-0 lead after four innings and pounded the Huskers, 17-1. Creighton won an elimination game in the afternoon against North Dakota State, 11-10. But in the evening, the Arkansas Razorbacks on their home field ousted the Bluejays, 8-3. It marked the final game for Bluejays coach Ed Servais (service) who previously announced his retirement after this season.
