KLAX-TV (Alexandria, LA)
KLAX-TV is a television station affiliated with ABC, serving Central Louisiana and based in Alexandria. It transmits a standard definition digital signal on UHF channel 31 from a transmitter located in the Kisatchie National Forest, which is to the southwest of Dry Prong. Viewers can also watch KLAX on Suddenlink channel 3. The station is owned by the Pollack/Belz Broadcasting Company and shares its facilities with KWCE-LP, a low-powered affiliate of the Retro Television Network (RTV). Both stations operate out of studios located on England Drive/LA 498 in Alexandria. Some of the popular syndicated shows aired on KLAX include Entertainment Tonight, The Dr. Oz Show, and The Insider, among others.

BATON ROUGE, La. – More than 24,000 Louisiana K-12 students read in excess of 82,000 books during the last year to select the winners of the 2024-2025 Louisiana Readers’ Choice Awards. Participation in nearly all age group categories increased over last year, continuing an upward trend in readership over the past several years. Most significant was an 88 percent increase in voting among students in 6th through 8th grade.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (Nov. 21) — Rapides Parish Schools presented a check to the Cajun Navy today, raising over $11,000 for victims of recent hurricanes in North Carolina and Florida. The funds were collected through a district-wide fundraiser, which included a free-dress initiative and community donations. Shawn Boudreaux of the Cajun Navy praised the community's support, saying it reflects the spirit of helping others. "We start off with the idea of helping your neighbor," Boudreaux said.

(Nov. 20, 2024) — The ninth annual Students Exploring Career Opportunities Expo (SECO) is underway, providing high school students across Central Louisiana with the chance to explore local career options and connect with businesses. The interactive event, which is being held over two days, is presented by The Orchard Foundation, The Rapides Foundation, and nine local school districts. Nearly 2,500 10th and 12th grade students from nine parishes are participating in SECO this year.

Alexandria, La. (Nov. 18, 2024) — The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning, November 15th, on the 200 block of Bayou Drive. At approximately 5:53 AM, authorities responded to the scene where they found the victim shot at close range in what appears to have been a targeted attack. The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment, and their condition is not yet known.

(Nov. 18, 2024) — The Louisiana Christian University Men’s Soccer Team has once again claimed the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament title, securing a spot in the NAIA National Tournament for just the second time in program history. The Wildcats dominated over the weekend, shutting out Xavier University of New Orleans with a 2-0 victory. Lucas Lima put LCU on the scoreboard early in the second half at the 52nd minute, with Adrian Amoros Navarro providing the assist.
