Columbus Police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night at the Walmart on east 23rd Street. In a Facebook post police say the incident happened around 6:20 p.m. One man was taken to Columbus Community Hospital and another man was taken into custody without incident. The condition of the injured man is not known and police are still trying to determine what led to the shooting. Police say there is no threat to the public.

A homeowner near 35th and ‘O’ Street got a rude awakening early Thursday morning. Lincoln Police say an SUV crashed through a fence just south of 35th and ‘O’ Street around 3:00 a.m.The car then went through the backyard and drove completely through the garage before it came to a stop. There were no injuries reported and Lincoln Police are still sorting out the details.

Nebraska State Patrol investigators have arrested three inmates for their roles in an assault on several Nebraska Department of Correctional Services staff two years ago. A patrol spokesperson says on Tuesday investigators arrested 33-year-old Eric Ramirez, 39-year-old John Meyers and 23-year-old Jonathan Gonzalez SalasAll three are currently inmates at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

The LFR Hazardous Device Unit was called out twice on Monday after a pair of hand grenades were found in the same south Lincoln neighborhood. LFR’s MJ Lierman says the first one, a Korean War grenade, was found on the sidewalk in front of a home near 35th and Lake around 10:00 a.m.The team safely removed it from the area and Lierman says the grenade was determine to be inert and there were no explosive components in it.

City officials and event organizers gathered Monday afternoon to outline traffic safety protocols and street closures for May 3 and 4 for the Lincoln Mayor’s Run, Marathon, and Half Marathon. About 2,000 elementary age students will run in the Mayor’s Run and more than 7,000 runners will participate in either the Marathon or Half Marathon. The Mayor’s Run will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday on the south side of the state Capitol.
