They were operating as unlicensed contractors, submitting for work they were not licensed to perform. Now they are facing criminal charges. Three more people are under investigation. All the bids exceeded the legal limit of $500 for unlicensed work, with amounts ranging from $2,300 to $31,590 for landscaping, painting, and masonry projects. Under California law, it is illegal for unlicensed contractors to bid or work on projects costing more than $500, including labor and materials.

A Wildfire Smoke Advisory is in effect through 5 p-m Monday Sept 30th 2024 for the San Gorgonio Pass, and Western Coachella Valley The Line Fire has pockets of unburned fuels that are burning within containment lines in the Bear Creek and Sana Ana River drainages, producing smoke on Sunday Sept 29th 2024. The fire remains 83% contained. There is more fuel in Bear Creek and Santa Ana River drainages that will burn creating smoke over the next few days.
Cell Phone In Classrooms? Restrictions Coming

California is one step away from cracking down on cell phones in class. Legislators in Sacramento have passed a bill that requires school districts limit when students can use their phones on campus or ban phones altogether. School districts would be given until July 2025 to put policies in place and must update those policies every five years. Governor Gavin Newsom is expected to sign the bill.

It was more than 2 years ago, August 21st 2022, just before 9 in the morning when deputies were called to a home on Via Quedo in unincorporated Desert Hot Springs to check on a 17 year girl who was unresponsive in her bedroom. Paramedics were unable to save the girl. The investigation showed she died from a fentanyl overdose, with 22 year old Michael Garcia of Desert Hot Springs providing her with the drug.

The last time anyone saw Danielle Rico of Hemet, was August 21st 2022. In September 2022, her family reported her missing to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. There is still no sign of Danielle Rico, an adult woman with long brown hair. Investigators have determined Rico’s disappearance is suspicious and is being investigated by the Sheriffs Central Homicide Unit. Circumstances surrounding her disappearance are still unknown.
