More than 40 colleges across the nation have come under scrutiny during the new Trump administration for allowing and encouraging admissions into programs that were based on race. Among those are one each in Idaho and Utah, and 2 in Washington State. The investigations were announced in a Press Release on March 14th on the Department of Education website.

Idaho State Police are assisting with a messy accident on a Southern Idaho highway. The accident happened in Bingham County and as of the time of the ISP News Release, some lanes are still blocked as crews clear the scene. In the new release from the Idaho State Police we learn that the cement truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident. The truck rolled on Interstate 15 near Blackfoot at mile marker 94.

A deadly fungus has been spreading across the United States for over a decade, starting on the East Coast in New York and New Jersey. The infectious and deadly disease has now spread across all but a handful of states. Idaho and Washington are among the states with no infections registered by the CDC. Oregon's first case was in 2021, Utah's first clinical case was in 2023, and Washington has had multiple since the last CDC report (so, not yet registered by the CDC reporting).

The driver of a motorcycle in Southern Idaho was killed in a recent accident and his juvenile passenger was injured. Idaho State Police say the accident was caused by a failure to yield at an intersection in Bingham County. The deadly crash happened on April 7th a few minutes after 8PM on State Highway 26 at the 100 N intersection, west of Blackfoot. Idaho State Police report:A 58-year-old-male from Blackfoot was traveling westbound on 100 N in a maroon 1997 GMC Jimmy.

Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s are Nestlé products, so check your freezers. A voluntary recall has been issued for a variety of frozen lasagna, stir fry, and ravioli products. The recall affects a limited number of frozen meals sold by Nestlé as they may contain a wood-like material.

In two separate accidents, but in the same area, vehicles struck the jersey barriers on I184 in Ada County. The accidents happened about a half an hour apart on the I184 to I84 interchange. The Idaho State Police reported the accidents together in the same News Release. The first accident happened at 8:17 AM Monday morning (April 7th) and the second happened at 8:41 AM. Each accident was a single-vehicle crash with no injuries reported in either.
