KOZZ-FM (Reno, NV)

KOZZ-FM is a commercial radio station based in Reno, Nevada, broadcasting at 105.7 FM. The station features a classic rock music format. It launched in the spring of 1979 with a promotion called "Fire on The Mountain," marking the switch to a new 75,000-watt transmitter that replaced the previous KGLR equipment on McClellan Peak. The KGLR name, which stood for "Good Live Radio," was retired with this change. Upon its debut, the station's lineup included Steve Funk as the Production Director, hosting mid-days from 10 am to 2 pm. He was followed by Daniel "D.C." Cook, the Program Director, from 3 pm to 7 pm, and Chris "ZZ" Davis from 7 pm to midnight. Stu Buchanan took the overnight shift from midnight to 6 am, while the morning show from 6 am to 10 am featured Bruce "BVD" Van Dyke along with sidekick and News Director Don "Mr. Sunshine" Hackstaff. Joe "Brother Joe" Wolfe also contributed by covering the midnight to 6 am slot. Additionally, the station served as a news affiliate for NBC Radio's 'The Source,' targeting a young adult audience. Jody Detre, the Promotion and Public Service Director, also made occasional on-air appearances.
