KWTS-FM (Canyon, TX)

KWTS is a radio station located in Canyon, Texas, and is managed by West Texas A&M University. It began its broadcasting journey in 1972, initially operating at a modest power of 10 watts, which was sufficient to reach the university campus. In 1982, due to a mandate from the Federal Communications Commission, educational radio stations were required to boost their power. KWTS responded by increasing its output to 100 watts and started broadcasting in stereo. Today, the station serves a wider audience across nine counties in the Texas Panhandle and is also accessible online.
