La Salle University is a private Catholic institution located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Established in 1863 by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, it is named after St. Jean-Baptiste de La Salle.

    Three La Salle University students recently participated in the International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU) summer program. Aimed at student leaders of within Lasallian communities, the program seeks to have students build their leadership skills in a Lasallian context. Past participants of the program have played key leadership roles when back to their own campuses.

    Sarah Hanlon, ’23, always knew she wanted to work for the U.S. Department of State.  Her political science and international relations degree from La Salle helped her get to the role she is in today in the Philadelphia Passport Agency office.  Hanlon, a Malvern, Pa., native, knew about La Salle through her dad who obtained his master’s in business administration from the University in 2000. She was looking for a local institution with smaller class sizes and attentive faculty.

    First-year, first-gen student Decontee Moses, ‘28, is ready to embrace a new chapter in his life with a mix of excitement and nerves. Moses has lived in various places due to his stepdad’s military career, but the California Valley is the place he calls home. This fall, he is calling 20th and Olney home as he begins his journey in finance, a field that has intrigued him for as long as he can remember. His choice to attend La Salle University was influenced by both academic and personal reasons.

    Madison Griffin, ’25, enjoys working in government to make a difference for local communities.  Growing up in Philadelphia made her naturally drawn to the University. She was also interested, and ultimately majored in, the Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics program (PPE) which has equipped her with the proper knowledge to succeed. Through her studies, she discovered a passion for economics that would shape her academic and professional journey.

    As soon as Kerri Corrado, ’12, walked into La Salle’s Communication Center, she knew this was the place she would learn and grow as a broadcast journalist.  “I always knew I wanted to be on TV and study journalism, and so we started to look at schools that had a communication program or a TV studio that I could jump right into and start getting experience right from the very beginning. We saw La Salle had La Salle TV and the TV studio, and we went for just a visit.
