    Hubert Lowe is the bee whisperer of Southport and Oak Island. St. James resident Tom Connors was on his back porch when he heard buzzing. His first thought was that bees were taking over the hummingbird feeder again. Even louder buzzing coaxed another look. Hundreds and hundreds of bees were flying all over the backyard about 2 feet off the ground. His wife, Allison, watched as the bees congregated on a tree.

    Under the leadership of Robert G. Marks, the Wyckoff Orchestra at Southport Trinity United Methodist Church is small-town orchestra with a big professional sound. Twenty years ago members at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport and students from South Brunswick Middle and South Brunswick High schools came together to play music for services. They had no idea it would end up where it is today. The church had established a praise band but had no ensemble for classical musicians.
