bp has safely loaded the first cargo of LNG for export from its GTA Phase 1 project offshore Mauritania and Senegal. This follows flow of first gas from the project, announced earlier this year. This first cargo of LNG at GTA is the third upstream major project start-up of the year for bp. These are the first of 10 expected by the end of 2027, in line with bp’s strategy of growing its upstream oil and gas business.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has received 14 proposals under its expression of interest (EOI) to scale up the supply of LNG as marine fuel in the Port of Singapore. A total of 18 companies took part in the EOI. These included energy companies, fuel suppliers, traders, bunker operators, and storage providers. The range of submissions reflect the industry’s readiness to support sea-based LNG reloading to complement existing onshore infrastructure and supply more options.

The SPA, of a duration of 20 years, is subject to NextDecade taking a positive final investment decision (FID) on Train 4.

Crowley’s new LNG-powered containership Quetzal has begun its inaugural commercial voyage, opening the company’s next era of faster, frequent ocean shipping with a new class of vessels for the US, Central America, and the Dominican Republic. With capacity for up to 1400 20-ft TEUs, Quetzal and its three forthcoming sister Avance Class ships will provide more cargo capacity while using lower-emissions LNG for fuel.
