In the Wake of Wildfires, New Center Brings Food, Shelter to Angelinos On December 8, 2024 Chabad of Los Feliz—a neighborhood in northeastern Los Angeles, California—dedicated a newly-renovated Chabad Center to serve the neighborhood’s Jewish community, as well as families of young patients in nearby Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The new Chabad House includes a spacious sanctuary, mikvahs, commercial kitchen, and preschool.

When Chabad of Moldova first built a mikvah back in 2002 they didn’t anticipate Chișinău’s Jewish population boom. Chabad emissary Rabbi Zalman Abelsky, of blessed memory, and his wife Leah moved to Chișinău in 1990, which then counted a Jewish population of 10,000. The Abelskys built Jewish infrastructure, including synagogues, schools, and the country’s first mikvah.

Douglas Greene, a real estate investor, moved to Amelia Island, Florida about 15 years ago. Like many of the island’s residents, Greene and his wife, Carolyn, enjoy the balmy weather and laid-back lifestyle on the island, which, at the northeastern tip of the state of Florida, is the southernmost of the Sea Islands chain along the East Coast. There was a time when Jews were not allowed to stay overnight in Andorra. Now, the country has a Jewish community that will be welcoming its first-ever rabbi. Rabbi Kuty and Rochel Kalmenson have moved from Ningbo, China to the tiny mountainous country to establish Chabad of Andorra and to lead the local Jewish community.
