The Mangum Star News holds the title of the longest-running business in Greer County and is recognized as the oldest newspaper in western Oklahoma. It ranks as the fourth oldest newspaper in the entire state, surpassed only by the Henryetta Free Lance (130 years), Eufaula Indian Journal (129 years), and Coalgate Record (123 years). Over the years, the Mangum Star-News has evolved significantly while staying committed to the community of Greer County. It aims to address the interests of its residents, highlight local needs, document everyday events, and celebrate community accomplishments. Throughout its history, the publication has undergone several name changes, including: Mangum Star (January 5, 1898), Mangum Greer Weekly (November 22, 1900), Mangum Sun-Monitor (April 11, 1901), Greer County News (1927), Mangum Daily Star, and finally, it became known as the Mangum Star-News on January 6, 1975.
