A $144 million new Mendocino County Courthouse in Ukiah is rising alongside railroad tracks crossing Perkins Street, the main corridor that links the commercial core of Ukiah to the Highway 101 freeway. A formal dedication Wednesday will mark the beginning of work on what is the biggest civic project in the county’s history. A woman was seriously injured early Saturday morning after her sedan collided head-on with a fuel tanker truck along a rural stretch of State Route 29, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 3:55 a.m. north of Hofacker Lane, just outside the Lake County community of Lower Lake. CHP investigators said Brenda Lee Sandage, 64, was driving north on SR-29 when she veered into the southbound lane and directly into the path of the fuel tanker.

A Tesla Cybertruck overturned Thursday morning along U.S. Highway 101 between Ukiah and Hopland, briefly scattering debris in the northbound lanes but resulting in no injuries, authorities said. The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 7:13 a.m. near the Burke Hill exit. Scanner traffic indicated the driver was seen lying beside the vehicle shortly after the accident, but the incident commander later confirmed that no injuries were sustained.
