Merrick's Art
I'm a blogger, stylist, seamstress, clothing designer, and proud mom of three boys, happily married and based in North Dallas, Texas. I launched Merrick’s Art in 2008 while pursuing my art degree in college. After welcoming my first child in 2010, I found a passion for sewing. For a couple of years, I focused on refashioning clothes, starting with simple projects. It took me a while to gain the confidence to create garments from scratch, but with each endeavor, I improved, even though I had to discard plenty of my early attempts! Nothing excites me more than the process of designing and crafting beautiful clothing. Throughout my journey, I became a style writer for platforms like Babble Style and SheKnows.com, and contributed to Jo-Ann’s sewing blog for several years. Over time, I developed a passion for curating outfits and empowering women to feel confident while shopping and dressing for their bodies. HERE ARE A FEW RESOURCES YOU MIGHT FIND HELPFUL: Sign up for my FREE 5-day Wearable Wardrobe Guide, designed to help you identify your style, refresh your closet, and create outfits that truly reflect who you are. I also have numerous posts on WHAT TO WEAR for various events, along with a weekly series called 4 Ways to Wear It, featuring outfit ideas centered around a single piece. Last year, I introduced seasonal style guides, which have been very well-received and considered some of my most valuable content! Additionally, I offer beginner and intermediate sewing tutorials, and for those interested in learning to sew, I created an online course called The Modern Girl’s Guide to Sewing. In 2019, I launched my own clothing line, the Merrick White Collection, featuring super comfortable, casual dresses perfect for everyday wear.

Sometimes it helps to see the same piece styled on different body types—and that’s exactly what this post is all about. Kristy and I are sharing everything we wore this month so you can see how the outfits look on both of us. One of the most common questions we get is how certain pieces fit on different body types. So this month, Kristy and I decided to round up our outfits side-by-side to give you a better feel for how things actually look in real life.

Butter yellow is soft, subtle, and surprisingly easy to wear. If you’ve been wanting to try this trending color but aren’t sure how to style it, I’ve got you covered. Butter yellow is one of those shades that feels a little unexpected but totally wearable—especially in the warmer months. It’s not as bold as sunshine yellow, but it still adds that light, happy feel to your outfits. Whether it’s a top, pants, or accessories, I’ve been playing around with ways to style this pretty pastel.

Summer trends are fun to look at, but not all of them make sense for real life, especially as we get older and our personal styles settle a bit. I went through the Summer 2025 trends and pulled out the ones that feel wearable, fun, and easy to style with pieces you probably already own. Every year, a new wave of summer trends shows up. Some exciting, some confusing, and some that make you wonder if you’re supposed to dress like a teenager again.

If you need some dinner ideas, here’s what I cooked this week! I made one of our favorite Sunday crockpot meals, a new high protein recipe, and a tried and true quick weeknight meal. Our weekly menu will give you some good dinner ideas! Here’s a quick review of what I cooked this week for our family dinners. We love breakfast for dinner, and this was a super easy and yummy breakfast that wasn’t our normal pancakes or waffles.
