Merrick's Art

Merrick's Art

I'm a blogger, stylist, seamstress, clothing designer, and proud mom of three boys, happily married and based in North Dallas, Texas. I launched Merrick’s Art in 2008 while pursuing my art degree in college. After welcoming my first child in 2010, I found a passion for sewing. For a couple of years, I focused on refashioning clothes, starting with simple projects. It took me a while to gain the confidence to create garments from scratch, but with each endeavor, I improved, even though I had to discard plenty of my early attempts! Nothing excites me more than the process of designing and crafting beautiful clothing. Throughout my journey, I became a style writer for platforms like Babble Style and SheKnows.com, and contributed to Jo-Ann’s sewing blog for several years. Over time, I developed a passion for curating outfits and empowering women to feel confident while shopping and dressing for their bodies. HERE ARE A FEW RESOURCES YOU MIGHT FIND HELPFUL: Sign up for my FREE 5-day Wearable Wardrobe Guide, designed to help you identify your style, refresh your closet, and create outfits that truly reflect who you are. I also have numerous posts on WHAT TO WEAR for various events, along with a weekly series called 4 Ways to Wear It, featuring outfit ideas centered around a single piece. Last year, I introduced seasonal style guides, which have been very well-received and considered some of my most valuable content! Additionally, I offer beginner and intermediate sewing tutorials, and for those interested in learning to sew, I created an online course called The Modern Girl’s Guide to Sewing. In 2019, I launched my own clothing line, the Merrick White Collection, featuring super comfortable, casual dresses perfect for everyday wear.

Santa Fe is one of those places where the red rock scenery is stunning and the style is southwestern chic. I’m sharing the outfits I wore on my trip to help you plan what to pack and feel cute while exploring. If you’re heading to Santa Fe and wondering what to wear, I’ve got you covered. Between the bold colors, artsy vibe, and desert climate, it’s the perfect place to have fun with your outfits and pull in a southwester vibe — but still be comfortable for walking, dining, and sightseeing.

I have a 35% off discount code to Aerie this weekend, and it stacks on their other promotions. The prices are incredible, and these are some things I think you should check out while they’re on double discount. It’s an exciting weekend because I have my own Aerie code — MERRICK35 for 35% off. It’s especially great because it’s stackable with other promotions on their site, so this is a great chance to grab a few things while they’re on major sale.

Time for this week’s dinner ideas! I tried a new recipe I’ve thought about making for years, an old favorite that’s great for making ahead, and my kid’s most requeted meal. Our weekly menu will give you some good dinner ideas! Here’s a quick review of what I cooked this week for our family dinners. MONDAY: COCONUT CHICKEN WITH BUTTERNUT SQUASH AND ASPARAGUS: I’m loosely doing the Blood Sugar Reset from my friend Brigid, and this recipe was included in this week’s menu.
