A relatively new club at MCC further established its presence by holding a second open mic event with hopes of making it an annual event for everyone’s entertainment. The JAM Club may only be just shy of two years old, but they have already made a name for themselves on campus by performing at various events such as the past two Thunderbird Leadership Awards.

Student artists at MCC showcased their recent work in a variety of mediums at the annual Student Art Show for a chance to receive compensated prizes for their creative talents. The college’s Art Gallery will host 142 of over 300 student submissions from April 14 to May 8. Students must be taking an art class with an ART or AVC prefix to be eligible for their works to be displayed in the show.

A fundraising sale hosted by MCC’s Center for Community & Civic Engagement (CCCE) sold heavily discounted unclaimed lost and found items to attendees in need of affordable materials. Funds raised by the event will be put towards the CCCE’s Making a Difference grant, which administers financial aid for students who have committed to any service working project, according to the grant application.

Artists at MCC raised money for their businesses by flexing their artistic abilities at the college’s annual Festival of the Arts. The 11th rendition of the event took place in front of the Southern and Dobson campus’s Theatre on March 20 and featured food from Guac On Up, a local food truck, and a lineup of local musicians from the college community. Nearly 30 vendors gathered around the lawn by the Theatre from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. to sell a variety of pieces.
