Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes, often referred to as UM, UMiami, or simply The U, are the athletic teams representing the University of Miami, which is situated in Coral Gables, a neighborhood of Miami, Florida. To avoid confusion with the Miami RedHawks, an NCAA Division I team from Oxford, Ohio, the Hurricanes are typically listed as Miami (FL) in sports statistics. They are part of the Coastal Division within the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The university sponsors 15 athletic teams across 17 varsity sports. Men's teams compete in sports such as baseball, basketball, cross-country, diving, football, tennis, and track and field, while women's teams participate in basketball, cross-country, swimming and diving, golf, rowing, soccer, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. The participation of male and female athletes in these sports is roughly equal at UM.
