Nothing Legendary About the Latest Installment in the Karate Kid UniverseOn the 40th anniversary 4K Ultra-HD release of 1984’s The Karate Kid, there is a lively audio commentary from the creators of the Netflix series Cobra Kai: Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg. There’s not much in the way of behind-the-scenes or making-of tidbits, they were kids when the film was first released to theaters, but it’s still a loving, reverential, and highly entertaining track nonetheless.

Endearingly Chaotic Lilo & Stitch Warmly Tugs at the HeartstringsIt’s not a high bar, but as far as the semi-recent string of Disney live-action remakes of their animated favorites are concerned (starting for better and for worse — much, much worse — with Tim Burton’s 2010 monster box office smash Alice in Wonderland), I’m inclined to say I find the studio’s new take on Lilo & Stitch to be one of their better efforts.

There is a clown, Frendo, the living incarnation of a beloved small-town corporate mascot. This clown spends tons of time in cornfields, and not because the business he’s the face of happens to make corn syrup, but also because that’s where many of the community’s most troublesome teenagers tend to frolic.
