The Indian Air Force has inaugurated a new Weapon Systems School (WSS) at Air Force Station Begumpet, Hyderabad. The new WSS was inaugurated by Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff and will cater to the training needs of the air force’s newly created Weapon Systems (WS) branch which was created in October 2022.

The Ukrainian F-16 program gained a belated but major boost this July 10. During the NATO Public Forum in Washington, DC, nations have stepped up and solidified their commitment to donate F-16s to Ukraine and keep the weapons platform’s training program on course. Late yesterday, Norway announced its decision to donate six F-16s to the beleaguered nation. “We plan to start delivering the aircraft in the course of 2024,” said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

In 2010, MS&T’s Dim Jones visited the Air Battlespace Training Centre (ABTC) at RAF Waddington, at that time the host of the Iraq/Afghanistan era Distributed Synthetic Air-Land Training (DSALT), which ran until 2019. By then, the Defence Operational Training Capability (DOTC) programme had commenced, the air element of which (DOTC(A)) became known as Gladiator. MS&T reported progress on this in 2020 – but much water has flown under many bridges since then.
