14 months after it was released in Japan, Sailor Moon Cosmos, the two-part film concluding the second anime version of the manga — that began with the Crystal series, and continued with the Eternal movies — has now landed on Netflix with its English dub, bringing the more faithful take on Naoko Takeuchi’s story to an end after a whole decade (and giving us more than enough time to revisit all past Sailor Moon media.) Like its predecessors, it’s a mixed bag, being very faithful to its source...

Well, here we are at long last, 15 years since X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the movie this site was founded to defend, with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman finally reunited, and making their way into the MCU five years after the sale of 20th Century Fox/Studios.

Seven years. That’s how long I’ve been writing for Multiversity. Few comics run seven issues, let alone seven years. Seven years. I’ve been dreading writing this piece. Personal writing has always been hard, even as it often remains a fulfilling and illuminating endeavor. It’s why my “My Comics Year” pieces were always sent in horrendously late and with very little notice – sorry Brian! My eyes are bigger than my stomach, or I guess my ambition outstrips my typing fingers and I end up falling short.

Michelle White was the first regular female contributor to Multiversity Comics. The featured image is from “Mind the Gap” #1, a series Michelle annotated for the site. I started writing at Multiversity because I wanted to read more comics. I wasn’t particularly knowledgable, and hadn’t read very widely, and I figured becoming a reviewer was the fastest way to change that. Which is some backward thinking, but I admire the audacity. I wrote from 2012 to 2019, covering a swath of my 20s.

Now the reason I’m crying over a damn tweet is because this community that I have been a part of for since 2017, and on the management team since 2018 as the face behind the Twitter account, is putting away the longboxes and turning out the lights.

David Harper was an editor at Multiversity, the first person I (Brian) knew with a ‘video podcast,’ and the writer of the funniest image caption in the history of the site. He know runs the Eisner-nominated Sktchd. In the grand scheme of this site, my time here was just a blip in its lengthy run, even if I arrived fairly early. I was the third person in the door back in May 2009, having been wooed into joining by the site’s founder Matthew Meylikhov earlier that month. It didn’t take much.
