    The Sayre Elks will hold a rummage sale this weekend. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 pm on Saturday and 9 to noon on Sunday. Registration is open for both the in-person event Saturday, May 17, and virtual option. More than 400 runners typically participate in the 5K and 10K races. Starting at the historic Sayre Theatre, the Guthrie Gallop guides participants through Athens and Sayre boroughs.

    The Broome County Sheriff’s Office Strategic Response Group has announced the arrest of a wanted Binghamton man. According to police, 42-year-old Christopher Knapp was wanted on several warrants, including felony burglary in Johnson City, felony probation violation in Gloversville and criminal possession of a controlled substance in Whitney Point. He was charged with obstruction of governmental administration after being apprehended following a brief struggle with deputies.

    Four people have been arrested following the burglary at the Big Dipper BBQ 2 in Conklin. According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, two Conklin men and two juveniles have been charged in the incident. Deputies responded to the local business on April 19th for a report of a burglary. Security footage showed four people causing several thousand dollars worth of damage during the break-in. Tracy L.     A popular sub shop will soon be opening in Steuben County. According to WENY-TV, a new Jersey Mike’s Subs will be opening at 72 West Pulteney Street in the Riverside Tops’ plaza just off of Interstate 86. The new sub shop is expected to open in early June. This will be the second Jersey Mike’s in the Elmira-Corning region after one opened in Horseheads in December of 2023.
