NARFE
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Associations (NARFE) is a nonprofit membership organization recognized under 501(c)5, focused on enhancing the benefits for retired federal workers. With a membership base of around 300,000 individuals, NARFE includes active federal employees, retirees, their spouses, and survivors, along with over 1,300 local chapters. For those who prefer digital communication, NARFE also provides electronic chapters. Their key initiatives aim to "extend Premium Conversion rights to federal annuitants" and "repeal the Social Security Government Pension Offset (GPO) and the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP)." By advocating for these changes, NARFE aims to boost the pensions of retired federal employees. The organization has a widespread presence across the United States, with chapters in nearly every state, as well as in Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, Panama, and the Philippines. Most NARFE members participate under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) or the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).
