In September 1998, two women with curly hair teamed up to voice their frustrations about the beauty industry's neglect of the textured hair community. They noticed a lack of attention, products, and services catering to the diverse needs of consumers with textured hair, which are now recognized as significant concerns in beauty. Driven by their shared passion, Michelle Breyer and Gretchen Heber started a straightforward online discussion board. What began as a response to their frustrations quickly evolved into a comprehensive community platform. This platform now offers valuable user-generated reviews of products and stylists, expert advice, and easy access to both well-known and up-and-coming brands.

When I visit the salon, my well-needed layered trim will be transformed into a full-on bob look. Before my future big chop, I wanted to introduce my naturalistas to a new hair care routine—a voluminous perm rod set.
