New Politics
New Politics has been published since 1986 as a biannual journal, continuing the legacy of its earlier series from 1961 to 1978. It serves as an independent platform for discussion and debate within the socialist left. The journal is dedicated to promoting peace initiatives and anti-intervention efforts, while firmly opposing all types of imperialism. It is also a strong advocate for feminism and affirmative action. Within its pages, you will find extensive coverage of labor and social movements, insights into global affairs, and a focus on cultural and intellectual history.

I was working with and writing about Mexican workers and their unions and my wife Sherry Baron was studying workers’ health and safety. Jorge was then organizing workers just as he is today. I remember he gave the two of us a wonderful educational talk about mapping health and safety hazards in the workplace.

Netflix’ Adolescence is a flawed but powerfully crafted drama. The acting and particularly the dialogue is superb – its poignant, witty in places, and offers up a powerful evocation of working-class family life. The existential flaw in the program, however, lies in the premise. It is endeavoring to grasp the real problem of toxic masculinity/online incel culture purveyed by figures such as Andrew Tate.
