    Four people are injured, two seriously, in a two-vehicle accident shortly after 9:15 Thursday morning on north Highway-5 just south of Oakwood Drive in Laclede County. The highway report indicates that the vehicle driven southbound by a 35-year-old woman from Jefferson City started hydroplaning before being hit in the side by a northbound vehicle driven by a 36-year-old woman from Lebanon.

    A chain-reaction accident Thursday afternoon on north highway-5 near Eddie Avenue in Camden County sends three people to the hospital. The highway patrol says it happened when vehicles driven by a 75-year-old woman from Council Bluffs, Iowa, and a 52-year-old man from Lebanon were stopped for a traffic. A third vehicle driven by a 60-year-old man from Gravois Mills failed to stop rear-ending the 75-year-old and pushing her into the 52-year-old. The man from Gravois Mills was seriously hurt.

    Several lake area fire districts and others from around the region got together for some joint-training on marine firefighting operations. Day-1 of the training consisted of a foam application demonstration, marina pre-planning and inspection, and some classroom time. Participating districts included: Sunrise Beach, Gravois, Northwest, Osage Beach, Mid-County, Mappaville, Lake Ozark, Cape Girardeau and Lee Summit.

    A man working off a dock at the 14-mile marker of the lake escapes injury, or worse, after being swept out into the middle of the main channel on a pool raft while not wearing a life jacket. Sunrise Beach Fire officials say the call was received just after 5:30 Wednesday afternoon prompting a response by the district's fireboat, an engine and the Missouri Water Patrol. The unidentified man was located and rescued from the water before being returned to dock where he was detailing a boat.

    Barring any changes to the statewide voter-approved Proposition-A in November, employees across Missouri will be entitled beginning May 1 st to start earning and using paid sick time. The Earned Paid Sick Time also includes other provisions prohibiting employers from retaliatory personnel action against employees requesting paid sick time. The law also exempts federal and state governments, their political subdivisions and some businesses not grossing at least $500,000 in annual revenues.
