    Pirates Sports Club was established in 1888, making us one of the oldest sports clubs in Johannesburg and this year we celebrate our 135th birthday. We are a club rich in history – offering multiple sports to participate in at a junior level (U18), as well as at a senior level. Since Covid restrictions were lifted, we have seen a massive growth in membership with more guests coming through to enjoy our facilities.

    Residents from across the city are protesting the city’s inability to provide a regular water supply – something they are no longer willing to tolerate. Most protestors are from a group that formed just two weeks ago that now has close to 700 supporters. OUTA are also here as part of their Water CAN initiative. The group that arranged today’s picket have named their efforts as: Water Crisis – A time for action.

    Emergency services managed to contain a fire that broke out in the SABC Radio Park building in Auckland Park earlier today. The incident occurred on the ground floor in the lift pit area and was attributed to debris and paper left in the vicinity. Emergency Medical Services (EMS), spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi, confirmed the positive outcome and reassured the public that there were no casualties. He also reassured that the building remains structurally sound with no visible damage.
