Whenever I visit a Genesis Advanced Technologies exhibit room at a high-end audio show I expect to see a group of tall towers, all part of a single loudspeaker system that can cost more than half-a-million dollars. But Gary Koh has been focusing on his new Genesis G7 line which represents a more affordable approach for this legendary brand.

A couple of years ago, at some long-forgotten audio show, I first heard about the brands Alta Audio and Infigo Audio. The room was crowded, so I chose not to go in. When I turned around to exit, my industry friend Alan Kafton, designer of The Cable Cooker, was at the doorway asking me what I thought about the sound. He said something about the two brands being really special, and I made a note to return to the room. Needless to say, that didn’t happen.

I should have recognized the name Clayton Shaw, the name of Spatial Audio’s founder, but I blame my lapse on “The Border Crisis”, so it didn’t register.

It’s not often that you see an audio “work in progress” at a high-end audio show, outside of DIY events, but the Fourier Transform (website here) room at the 2024 Pacific Audio Fest caught my eye because of all of the cables and wires that flowed from the equipment rack into the room.

One of the recurrent pleasures of attending the Pacific Audio Fest is visiting the Daedalus and LTA room and relaxing for a few minutes while gorgeous music is playing. I’m not saying this because Lou Hinkley of Daedalus Audio (website) is one of the showrunners (along with Gary Gill), but because this is one of the only chances I have to listen to Lou’s beautiful wooden loudspeaker creations.
