Railway Magazine
The Railway Magazine is a monthly publication from the UK that caters to railway enthusiasts. It has been in circulation since July 1897, based in London. Notably, from 2007 to 2010, it achieved the highest circulation among railway magazines in the UK, with an average monthly sale of 34,715 copies in 2009. Previously published by IPC Media until October 2010, it is now released by Mortons Media Group Ltd. (located in Horncastle) starting November 2010. The magazine, which has the ISSN 0033-8923, also received the 'Magazine of the Year' award from IPC in 2007.

A major railway line for cross-border services between Glasgow and Carlisle is closed because of a fallen tree. No trains have run between Glasgow and Carlisle since Monday night when the tree fell on to overhead electric wires between Lockerbie and Carstairs. Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express services are disrupted.

HS2 has revealed the first platform section on the high-speed railway. Engineers have started installing the concrete slabs passengers will use when boarding or alighting high-speed trains at Old Oak Common station, west London. Six platforms are being built at the site to serve HS2’s fleet of 400-metre trains.

The mainline between Hereford and Shrewsbury will remain closed on Friday after a train hit a tractor-trailer on a level crossing. The Transport for Wales (TfW) train was travelling from Manchester to Cardiff when the crash occured near Leominster, Herefordshire, on Thursday. The train was not derailed but two passengers suffered minor injuries, according to British Transport Police (BTP).

A historic railway carriage with ties to Sir Winston Churchill and General Dwight D Eisenhower is returning to the rails for the first time in more than five decades. Pullman Car No 246 ‘Lydia’ was used during crucial wartime strategy meetings ahead of D-Day and later during Churchill’s state funeral in 1965. A team at South Devon Railway have restored the carriage to its original specification.
