Reform Judaism

Reform Judaism, often referred to as Liberal Judaism or Progressive Judaism, is one of the prominent branches of Judaism. It focuses on the idea that the faith is constantly evolving, prioritizes ethical values over ceremonial practices, and embraces the concept of ongoing revelation rather than being limited to the events at Mount Sinai. As a progressive faith, it places less emphasis on rituals and personal observance, viewing Jewish Law as non-binding and allowing individuals to make their own choices. This denomination is open to modern influences and progressive ideas. Reform Judaism originated in 19th-century Germany, where Rabbi Abraham Geiger and his colleagues laid down its foundational principles. Since the 1970s, the movement has embraced inclusivity, welcoming a diverse range of individuals into its communities rather than adhering strictly to theoretical doctrines. Today, its largest community is found in North America.
