Revolving Door Project
The Revolving Door Project aims to educate the public to help balance the power that Wall Street and corporate America have in shaping regulations. We focus on informing the media and activists about instances where everyday people are being exploited and identifying the parties responsible. To encourage the executive branch to create rules that promote economic fairness instead of just profit extraction, it’s vital that capable individuals occupy crucial roles, such as the Treasury Secretary and SEC Commissioner. The executive branch should prioritize the appointment of committed civil servants over those who frequently switch between government roles and the industries they are meant to oversee.

In May, Heatmap’s Robinson Meyer and Matthew Zeitlin wrote an article about House Republicans’ plan to weaken environmental review to accelerate the construction of new infrastructure. The subject line of the email promoting the piece read, “Permitting Reform Is Back, Baby,” a rather nonchalant way to describe the latest legislative plan to gut the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

This article was originally published by The American Prospect. A combination of factors is limiting the public’s ability to ascertain the depths of insider trading and market manipulation likely occurring as a result of President Donald Trump’s chaotic trade war and self-enriching crypto schemes. Although presidents have long been able to move markets, Trump’s unification of power unto himself turbocharges that power.
