MEEKER | Want to learn how to sew? Make a quilt? Try a new creative venture? Maker’s Muse, which officially opened last week provides space — and instruction — for those activities. Owner Hannah Turner moved to Meeker in 2016. While working a remote job for Wells Fargo, she decided she “needed a winter hobby.” She began teaching herself to sew using YouTube and  joined the Rio Blanco Stitchers, a local quilting group, as a way to meet people.

MEEKER | Meeker’s Board of Trustees and town staff began preliminary discussions about the need to raise water rates at last week’s meeting. Town Manager Mandi Etheridge explained that the current rate structure covers operational costs, but provides a “very slim margin” — about 9% — for building reserves in the water fund.
