By Lori PerkinsWatching Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii on the giant IMAX screen was a surreal experience for someone like me, who witnessed the band in their prime back in '70s. when they were doing big indoor concerts with over-the-top special effects, because this preserved-in-amber performance is a hyper focus on the band and the music. The original film, directed by the legendary Adrian Maben, captured Floyd's cosmic soundscapes and unearthly performances in a way no one had ever seen before.

By Lori PerkinsI came of age in the 70’s, so the John Lennon I remember lived in my city and I was honored to know that he and Yoko had chosen my home town as the most awesome place on the face of the Earth, because I agreed with them! This documentary, about how they worked as two creatives to bring attention to injustice, was the nostalgia I needed in these times.

By Lori PerkinsThat headline seems redundant, no? I am preparing for my annual re-watch of the Bill Murray/Andie McDowell classic Groundhog Day, which I started rewatching annually six years ago. It seems like only yesterday…One of the most amazing things about the movie, for me, is that every time I watch it I see something in it I never saw before. The first time I rewatched it, I was shocked at how I never saw it as a romance. It even has a Happy Ever After  (HEA) ending.

By Lori PerkinsInauguration Day is right around the corner. I am trying to cherish these “calm before the storm” days leading up to January 20th, when Donald Trump becomes this country’s 47th president. But I am also apprehensive about what is coming and what I can possibly do to not acquiesce. I was frozen in my feeling of powerlessness, and then remembered that there are many small  things I do that are everyday means of protest.
