I’ve always been aware of the big parade downtown, and as I was growing up the controversy of banning gay people from marching in the parade. But I did not grow up eating the celebratory meal of corned beef and cabbage.

It seems like only yesterday…One of the most amazing things about the movie, for me, is that every time I watch it I see something in it I never saw before. The first time I rewatched it, I was shocked at how I never saw it as a romance. It even has a Happy Ever After  (HEA) ending.

I am trying to cherish these “calm before the storm” days leading up to January 20th, when Donald Trump becomes this country’s 47th president. But I am also apprehensive about what is coming and what I can possibly do to not acquiesce. I was frozen in my feeling of powerlessness, and then remembered that there are many small  things I do that are everyday means of protest.
