OWEN Edwards inspired Rugby Cricket Club to a five-wicket win against Walmley as the Webb Ellis Road side secured back-to-back victories. Edwards hit 10 boundaries to finish unbeaten on 74 not out and was supported by Divan Posthumus (37) and Jeevan Barhey (32 not out) as Rugby clinched victory in the 46th over.

KIMBERLEY Woods won silver for Great Britain as part of women’s C1 team in the canoe slalom at the European Games in Krakow, Poland. Woods, from Rugby, alongside Mallory Franklin (Windsor and District) and Sophie Ogilvie (CR Cats)  produced a strong run to take silver in a time of 120.34 seconds. The British trio were just 2.8 seconds behind gold medal winners Czechia while Germany pipped Spain to claim bronze.

A STRONG bowling display helped Rugby Cricket Club to a comfortable six-wicket win against Stratford-upon-Avon CC. Rugby bowled Stratford out for 115 in 45.1 overs as Divan Posthumus (3-27), Owen Edwards (2-8), Kasir Shah (2-17), Matt Ewer (2-21) and Aravind Katragadda (1-17) took the wickets. In reply, Kyle Taylor (32 not out) and Hugh Cochrane (27) guided Rugby to victory in 28.2 overs for the loss of four wickets.

RUGBY School will send one boys and one girls team to compete in the inaugural Rugby Heritage Cup schools event. The tournament will take place in Loire Valley, Pontlevoy, France ahead of the Rugby World Cup. More than 700 boys and girls from 48 different schools spanning five continents will take part in the event which will take place from September 2 to 8 later this year. Rugby are one of three English schools who will take part along with Clifton College and Robert Clack Dagenham.
