RG Corporate Finance (RGCF) is reinforcing its position as a leading advisor to businesses in the recruitment sector, following a significant increase in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) throughout 2024. Despite challenging economic conditions, the UK witnessed a 49% rise in recruitment business acquisitions and disposals in 2024, totalling 104 deals, according to data from BDO.

At the October 2024 Budget, Rachel Reeves announced that investment portfolios invested in AIM shares would cease to be 100% exempt from inheritance tax (IHT) from 6 April 2026. Instead, a new 20% rate of IHT will apply to AIM shares held on death. At the same time, the Chancellor confirmed that a new regime would also apply to assets that currently benefit from Business Relief (BR). Anyone dying in possession of an asset that qualifies for BR will pay no IHT up until 5 April 2026.

I work as a Tax Manager in the personal tax team managing a wide variety of clients, ranging from high-net worth individuals, partnerships and partners, to agricultural farms and farmers, and trusts. I also assist clients with IHT and estate planning where required. Tell me about your career to date.. I graduated from Northumbria University with an Accounting degree over 10 years ago and joined Ernst & Young LLP (EY) early 2014 as a Tax Assistant.
